URBANA, Ill. - Illini Men’s Basketball coach John Groce will be the featured speaker during the 57th annual Agronomy Day at the University of Illinois on August 15.
Coach Groce will speak at noon near the Agronomy Day tent at the Crop Sciences Research and Education Center. The center is located south of U of I’s main Urbana-Champaign campus off St. Mary’s Road and Wright Street Extended.
The Illini coach comes from a 4-H background. He was a member of the Happy Farmer’s 4-H Club and had an expertise in swine. He was named coach of the Illini Men’s Basketball team in 2012.
The noon program will also feature speakers from the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences as well as from the Department of Crop Sciences.
Agronomy Day 2013 will begin at 7 a.m. with field tours departing from the St. Mary's Road location every half-hour until noon. Lunch will be available for a nominal charge.
Agronomy Day attracts nearly 1,000 people each year seeking the latest information on technology and techniques to improve food and fuel production.
